j. phillip carroll

James Phillip Carroll was born in Kankakee, Illinois, the second of seven children. He grew up attending Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor William H. Copeland, Jr.

Carroll's first ministry was the gift of music. He became the Minister of Music for numerous churches across many cities: Kankakee, Illinois; Peoria, Illinois; Davenport, Iowa and Pine Bluff, Arkansas. In the fall of 1986, while attending the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Carroll accepted the call to preach the Word of God.

In 1998, Reverend Carroll served as Pastor in Kokomo, Indiana at Jones Community Church. He became an impact to the church and the community around him for five years. May of 2004, Pastor Carroll accepted the obligation as Overseer of Greater Shepherd Missionary Baptist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana located on the 2200 block of English Avenue. Over the years he has learned to embrace the lessons God has given him to merge the call to pastor with the gift of music. He strongly believes that God has prepared him to do a great work with these two gifts.

Pastor Carroll married his lovely bride and powerhouse songstress, Lady Tonia Carroll, in June of 2013. Lady Tonia has a strong background in the faith and saw it a pleasure to walk along-side Pastor Carroll. They have proudly blended a beautiful family of thirteen children, 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

It is the vision of Pastor J. Phillip Carroll to empower God’s people in the city of Indianapolis to experience spiritual growth, educational advancement and financial liberty through his preaching, teaching and obeying the divine orders from the Lord.​
